Unsere Geschichte
Stiklings ist eine gemeinnützige Organisation, die Zirkusunterricht und Aufführungen für Menschen auf der ganzen Welt bietet.
Mit Sitz in Shropshire in Großbritannien reisen wir mit unserem riesigen LKW, Zelt und Papagei (Echo) national und international.
Wir bieten regelmäßig Zirkuskurse vor Ort in Shropshire an und produzieren und verkaufen zugängliche Zirkusausrüstung. Alle Gewinne daraus fließen in die Bereitstellung unserer Dienstleistungen für Menschen, die sonst keinen Zugriff darauf hätten.
Jamie, Gina und Peter wurden durch Performers Without Borders während ihrer Freiwilligenarbeit mit Flüchtlingen in Griechenland zusammengebracht.

Jamie hat an Zirkusschulen auf der ganzen Welt unterrichtet, auf internationalen Seminaren unterrichtet, als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter von Circademics gearbeitet und sich ehrenamtlich für eine Reihe von Wohltätigkeitsorganisationen engagiert, mit einem Ziel vor Augen. Mehr Lächeln für alle.
Er hat eine Ausbildung zum Social-Arts-Praktiker an der East15 Acting School absolviert und eine Reihe von Weiterbildungen absolviert, darunter; Zugänglichkeitslehrerausbildung am NCCA, Ganzheitliche Zirkustherapie mit Jill Maglio, Funktionelles Juggling mit Craig Quat und unzählige Workshops auf der ganzen Welt auf Zirkuskongressen.
Er arbeitet leidenschaftlich gerne mit Menschen, die zusätzliche Bedürfnisse haben; er hat eine neue Pädagogik entwickelt und diese an andere Praktizierende weitergegeben. Seit der High School begann Jamie, mit Menschen mit zusätzlichen Bedürfnissen zu arbeiten, und war weiterhin als Pflegekraft tätig, wann immer es sein Zeitplan erlaubte.
Seine Lieblingsfarbe ist Magenta, weil „es nicht existiert“
Lustige Tatsache, Jamie wurde von mehr als einer Person als "ihr imaginärer Freund" beschrieben.

Gina Disney
Gina hat einen musikalischen und theatralischen Hintergrund und stand schon sehr früh auf der Bühne. Gina arbeitete viele Jahre in der Kinderbetreuung und in der Erwachsenenbetreuung, während sie nebenbei Zirkus trainierte und aufführte, und wollte einen Weg finden, diese beiden Leidenschaften zu verbinden, Menschen und Zirkus zu helfen! Sie begann sich 2016 freiwillig bei No Holds Barred in Brighton zu engagieren und unterrichtete behinderte Erwachsene im Luftzirkus so erfrischend“. Gina beschloss dann, ihren Zirkus auf die nächste Stufe zu heben und machte ein 2-jähriges Diplom in Zirkus und Körpertheater bei Circomedia in Bristol! Nach ihrem Abschluss ging sie mit Performers Without Borders auf eine 5-monatige Freiwilligentour durch Indien, in der sie glaubte, ihre Berufung im sozialen Zirkus Gina gefunden zu haben auf einer Partnerschaftsresidenz mit den Flying Seagulls im Jahr 2019. Zwischendurch gewann sie den Preis für das beste britische Zirkusereignis des Jahres 2019, als sie Veranstaltungen für Yardarts in Bristol leitete. Gina wurde dann Tour-Koordinatorin für PWB India 2020 und Social-Media-Managerin für die Wohltätigkeitsorganisation, leider wurde die Tour aus irgendeinem Grund abgebrochen… Dann gründete sie Stiklings 2021 mit Jamie und Peter in der Hoffnung, mehr Zirkusfreude zu bringen die es am meisten brauchen!
Peter Duncan
Peter Duncan is an old circus trainer – he was one of the founders of Circus Eruption in 1992, and has been playing around with Circus since 1985.
With a strong sense of social justice, and skills in teaching and facilitating Peter has been involved in designing and running lots of training for Circus Tutors in Social Circus Settings.
A veteran of Youth Circus camps for UK Youth Circus Network, and Circusworks in places as diverse as a field in Ross on Wye and Edinburgh Festival, A church in Sheffield and Riverside TV Studios London.
Peter has also helped to set up several UK wide tutors conferences – Cardiff, and Bristol the most recent.
EYCO (European Youth Circus Organisation) has a range of projects and Peter has contributed to Masterclasses on Juggling, Using Games, Work with Refugees, and projects on Assistants Sharing Knowledge, and Learner Centred Learning.
With his long experience Peter is in demand online to facilitate conferences, and support Circus groups in evaluating plans, strengthening boards, and building capacity amongst trainers.
He is still active in face-to-face training, working in schools in North Wales, Cheshire parks (Home educators) and University of 3rd Age.
He is proud to be a director of the amazing Stiklings and looks forward to seeing where the CIC goes!
Jules Cooke
Jules began her journey as a Musical Theatre performer, graduating in 2015. She was not a ‘natural’ mover but all things dance and movement quickly became a passion of hers. Jules first found circus (quite accidentally) later that year at the London Juggling Club: Spinning@.
Finding circus was a dream come true - the extra limbs she never knew she was missing. In 2017, she won the Silver Award for British Young Juggler of the Year competition, which propelled her further into the world of circus. She discovered a passion for circus arts, going on to teach and perform across the UK, various countries across Europe, and in Bahrain, India and Kenya. In her mind, there is a unique form of communication that circus offers, shattering all sorts of barriers. For her, it is the most universal language of all.
Jules first started volunteering for Performers Without Borders (PWB) on the 10 year anniversary tour to India in 2018. The following year, Jules joined Peter Duncan, Gina Disney and Jamie Moore and the Flying Seagulls at the refugee camp in Samos - which was both a life-changing journey and phenomenal preparation to coordinate the Kenya 2020 PWB tour. In 2019 Jules also graduated from the Circomedia MA Directing for Circus course. During her time there she directed her first circus theatre show which premiered at Bread and Roses theatre in London.
Jules’ ethos is underpinned by a desire to harness the power of circus to share stories and build powerful connections. She aims to embrace the reality that everything is a work in progress. That is to say that perfection is unattainable, but the journey as we strive towards it is both educational and beautiful.
